Salukis and the Dogs of the Desert

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the American Kennel Club’s recognition of the Saluki and consequently the Saluki Club of America, the museum is mounting a special exhibition dedicated to the breed. Due in part to the generous Cynthia Wood, the museum maintains the finest collection of Saluki art in the world including James Ward’s 1807 canvas and Charles Hamilton’s Zillah, The exhibition will also feature the breed’s neighbors and cousins in Africa and the near East such as Pharoh and Afghan Hounds.
